What are the opportunities to portugal in terms of tourism?

Travel Info
need to know what opportunities are available for portugal in terms of tourism! no silly answers please! thanks

Travel Tips
Portugal offers many opportunities in terms of tourism:
The sunny warm weather in the south which stands out specially in winter months;
100s of beautiful beaches;
a Mediterranean-type of cooking which involves slowly grilling food and using lots of olive oil and garlic (mothwatering chicken piri-piri and grilled sardines/fish)!;
a small but diverse landscape (the landscape changes every 50-100 Km);
a people that are friendly;
no terrorism or civil war and a low level of crime and violence compared to other parts of the World;
a tolerance, curiosity and embrace of the 鈥榝oreign鈥?including tourists and foreign ideas;
a country with people with 鈥榗onnections鈥?with other cultures and continents such as Africa (Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau; Cape Verde islands and St. Tome island, Latin America (Brazil); India; China (Macau) and East Timor 鈥?this makes them 鈥榦pen鈥?
a people that pride themselves in 鈥榳orking hard鈥?(they also have lots of migrant workers overseas);
the country is yet to fully 鈥榤ature鈥?and develop, i.e. it can develop tourism in different directions and avoid the mistakes made elsewhere with lots of potential for 鈥榬ural鈥?tourism, walking holiday, cycle holidays, eco-friendly, etc;
a country that offers good value and is not hell-bent on exploiting tourists and visitors (i.e. offers a fair exchange of service for money). Source(s): Have been there quite a few times

I need more information to be able to answer this one properly but having been to Portugal as a tourist nine times in the last seven years I might be able to help you.
I'm portuguese so I will help you... For sure to go to Portugal , u should choose Summer or Spring, because otherwise cold u have in almost every European Country. U can try on the beaches in the Algarve, which are very good, 5 stars, for example: Beach of Monte Gordo, Praia da Rocha (Portim茫o),and some beaches near the city of Albufeira. Monte Gordo has alwyas green flag... Mostly. There are more good beaches but not in Algarve and they are colder then the Algarve ones.
In terms of monuments I recommend a trip to Lisbon, where you can visit The Belem Tour which was a very important building during the portuguese expansion. U can also try in Lisbon to eat "Pasteis de belem" which are some really good tiny cakes .U can also visit the "Jer贸nimos" , the city's castle and the tradicional streets in the centre,I also recommend visiting a town near by called Sintra, where is loacted the Pena's palace which is a fantastic monument ... Since in this area there's a lot to do so I can't refer everything.
U can try Tomar, a town in the middle of Portugal, where u can visit its castle and Crito's convent which is taking part in the 7 wonders of Portugal contest like Belem's tower. Plus in Tomar this year there's going to be a traditional party called "Festa dos tabuleiros" u can search in the net 4 it cos there is a lot of information... It is a great party and many people come to see it .
Finally u can visit the North of the country whre u find some cities like Oporto, Guimar茫es, Braga etc which have a lot to offer , the counry it self has a lot to offer, so why don't come here and enjoy...
P.S :I live in Tomar so if u r interested ask something I'll answer!
A fine answer from Ricardo but he fails to mention the Alentejo, a beautiful region above the Algarve with beaches on the atlantic and a charming interior along the Spanish border. lots of history and culture and it's very cheap and untouristy. And I live there.
