Travel Info What is the best place to stay in Lisbon, Portugal? Travel Tips Hi there! Ive just recently returned from Lisbon, having stayed there for 2 months. I found the best way was renting an apartment for longer than usual stays as its much more cost effective & you get to know the locals & maybe even form friendships that last years. My favourite area would be near Marques Pombal or around the Amoreias shopping district. Its absolutely central to everything & the choice of public transport is unreal (buses & metro). I found the best choice of very good priced accomodation via a website called www.expatriates.com I rented a 1 bedroom newly renovated fully furnished apartment (42sqm) with every modern facilitiy for 500 Euros per month (included cable tv, electricity, gas & water charges). It was also serviced every week. This has been my 4th trip to Portugal, I love it... its worth travelling all the way from Australia to experience such a wonderful country & such warm, kind people. It is located on the beach. Well, it depends on how much money you want to spend! If you have a lot of it then indeed the Hotel near the casino in Estoril is a great choice or any other Hotel in Estoril. However, Estoril, although lovely and full of nice beaches and seaside is outside Lisbon, about 30 min by train or so. If you want to stay in Lisbon then there are cheaper options. Try www.eurocheapo.com or www.hotelscombined.com as there you have a selection of all hotels with prices and facilities available. Hope this helps! Good luck and a nice trip! Hi! In terms of Hotels there are lot's ofnice ones. but i think location is key. try the Chiado area (downtown center) or Marques, or the Expo area.
