Travel Info I spend two-three months in France and would like to use my Yahoo email if there is a local number to connect to the internet. AOL has a local number but I don't like AOL. They have a surcharge for every connection even though the connection cost is trivial. Must I use Yahoo.fr.?
Travel Tips
You need to have an ISP (Internet Service Provider) which has access numbers in France. There are many French providers (libertysurf.fr, free.fr, etc.), but it might be simpler for you to get something like AOL which will have local access numbers. Another possibility is compuserve.com which has local numbers all over the globe. Even if you choose AOL, you don't have to use their software. You can use Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. like you normally would and go to yahoo.com to get your mail. You would just use AOL's dialing software to make the connection.
Internet and telephone tends to be more expensive in France than the States. In France, even local numbers cost money to dial. Tell yourself you'll just have to pay more, and then it won't feel so bad. |
