Is it inexpensive to live in puerto rico, could you open a small restraunt there with not much money?

Travel Tips
It is not...you will need a lot of money to open your own business, more if you want a good location. We have sales taxes as well,k and properties are more expensive than some places in the US like TX, but cheaper than California.

Whatever your plan is...small or big rest you wil need a vast budget. But I know that the government has a program called The Key to Your Business where they help you financially with loans and low interests.

Good luck!

NO, it is not. The working class is struggling to make ends meet. The economy is on a hold still right now. It is not a good idea to invest money on restaurants, houses, land or cars.
islandse U. S. money so there is no exchange rate like you would have on the other islands
I would imagine it would cost more because every thing is shipped in
The rent is not as expensive as in NY or Miami but is Not cheap..

To open a small restaurant...You will have to get the permits required Health, city,Fire Department ..Etc... but It all depends on Location.
Well how expensive will depend on where you plan to live, the metropolitan area for example the rent for a middle class house for a family of 3 or 4 can go from $400 to $600 and up a month; a small studio for 1 person can go from $300 and up a month. A plus is that almost every house is made of cinder blocks to stand hurricanes winds. Telephone bills can be about $50 and up month, the same for cell or cable TV.

If you rent or buy anything at a touristic area the prices are higher. Outside metropolitan area the prices are lower on some stuff like rent but some services cost almost the same.

For a small restaurant is not as expensive as some cities in the US but is close. It will depend on how big you plan to make it. To keep it running is also quite expensive just like in the US. Then you have to get permits, licenses, and pay taxes.

If you compare P.R. with big cities like, N.Y., Miami and L.A. then is cheaper, but the cost of living and doing business in Puerto Rico is not very different from the rest of the Continental U.S. Some stuff might be a little bit cheaper but there is not a huge difference.
