How is the Sherton Old San Juan Hotel?

We stayed there two years ago (when it was a Wyndham) before a cruise also. We found the hotel to be nice and well located for touring. Couldn't win in the casino though!

The hotel is across the street from the pier in Old San Juan. We walked across the street, checked in for our cruise, checked in our luggage, then spent a few more hours exploring.

!!!!!! Since there are two cruise terminals in San Juan, make sure you're leaving from the Old San Juan cruise terminal, and not the Pan American cruise terminal - or this hotel will be totally out of the way, and require about a $15 cab ride!

I believe that it is a pretty good hotel.
Tripadvisor has plenty of user reviews on it and other hotels.

I am not sure if they are or have been doing to refurbishment on the hotel.

I would give the hotel a quick call to double check.

It is really nice.... great night life around the hotel.... visit Newyorican Cafe (5 minutes walking) for great salsa music and to watch people dance... the hotel has a nice casino... Great restaurants like Dragonfly and Parrot Club (featured in Travelers mag.) about 3 minutes walking in an area called SoFo (South Fortaleza Street) http://www.parrotclub.com/. Main sightseen attractions are walking distance from the hotel like: El Morro fortress, San Juan Cathedral, Old San Juan shopping district (Calle Cristo).

If you are taking the Carnival Destiny cruise you can walk to it... 1 minute.... If taking the Adventure of the Seas (RCCL) you have to take a 10 minutes cab ride; like $15.00.
