This question is for puertorricans mostly, how do you feel about this?

Travel Info
I just saw yesterday a documentary in History Channel about the Spanish American War that lasted 3 hours.Aprox. 96% of the time was spent to talk about Cuba, how the war developed in Cuba, the sinkining of the battleship Maine, how Theodore Roosevelt and his roughriders fought in Cuba, etc.

I think the other 3% was to speak about the Philipines. They mention Guam a couple of times.

But Puerto Rico was only mentioned ONE(1) time in all 3 hours. In fact the word Puerto Rico was mentioned 1 and only 1 time in the WHOLE documentary that lasted 3 hours. What's going on with History Channel that disrespect us puertorricans. Is like we don't exist or we are not that important. What happened to General Nelson A. Miles that entered Puerto Rico in July 25, 1898 through the south of Puerto Rico at Guanica? What happened with mentioning the Rear Admiral William T. Sampson that bombarded San Juan in May 12, 1898?

All that was omitted and never mentioned in the documentary. How do you feel?

Travel Tips
I think this is sad. And we are not (probably) the only ones who feel that way. But sometimes this documentaries are not fixed or well studied.
Like saying (americans) * Let's celebrate the Hispanic 5 de Mayo Day*- which is not Hipanic in general- its Mexican.
Keep your knowledge close to your heart, then you can teach and read to others. This will make you more proud to be who you are. Source(s): Boricua

I am black and puerto rican (pr through mom, Carolina,Loiza,Maniti) and just like what they teach in schools I feel totally disrespected, disregarded and discarded like trash. But one thing my parents firmly planted in my head to keep my emotions in check as I got older, is "we know the truth, we know our history and what roles we played". So that in itself should keep our heritage strong and proud. After finally meeting my family in PR last year, I can tell you everyone in PR knows the truth, knows their history and are proud as hell.
So don't worry about this documentary or any other form of publication that omits certain info, hold your head up and know as my mother and grandmother would say , Mi corazon, you know the truth and hold it to your heart.

Yeah it's not right, but I don't think it's something to get all worked up about... now if someone stole my adobo I'd be pissed!! lol
I have to say keep learning your history, don't get upset by things like that. May because Cuba is not a possession of the US was given all that time.

A time will come for you to teach a little history to someone in other country and you can tell them what is PR like and history and get them interested in your country. It is good to ventilate you frustration but don't get upset for this.

According to the information you posted there is no mention of other latin american countries that were also involve. The only thing you can do is work your best, represent PR in all you do and if in the communication industry create a documentary of PR and send a copy to The History channel.
OK here goes ,Puerto Rico island was invaded by Spain army and they killed our native Indian ,slaved them and raped our woman Indian which where called Tainos ,so then puerto rico was a property of Spain and they made all the decisions etc . puerto rico had groups of man who where doctors and people with studies that wanted puerto rico to get there Independence. so they made this revolution called "Grito DE Lares" and those revolutionary's men had contacts with other revolutionary's man from Cuba because Cuba was also Spain s property so then when united states had asked to buy puerto rico and Cuba from Spain and they didn't want to and also put a bomb in there Maine ship they declared the hispanoamerican war against Spain and all there properties but like Spain had abandoned puerto rico without help when
admiral William Sampson came to attack puerto rico the puertoriquen people gladly welcomed them with open arms and applause .this was on purpose to have revenge against Spain .
