Is the police force in Puerto Rico not that great??? |
Travel Info I'm having a class trip their and my dad dosen't want me to go because he thinks the police force there is low rate in some areas of the country Travel Tips Puerto Rico is safer than most cities in the United States. In PR there is state police and also each city have their own city police. You can walk all over and you will be safe. You should take the same precautions as if you where at home: -Don't go out with someone you just met, at least not alone. -Don't walk by yourself at night in solitary places. -Don't accept anything from anybody you don't know (drinks, drugs, bags) If you do that, you will be safe and will have fun. Tell your daddy you will behave and that you will always be accompanied by your friends. I am a teacher in Puerto Rico and I assure you that PR is safe. Others Your dad is very ignorant... I have traveled extensively and Puerto Rico is exactly like any other state but very small Puerto Rico's Plice is Just Like any Other State Police...Under pay and trying to do the Best.... There are lots of cops, and they are just itching to put people in jail. tell your dad their is great security, after all, it is the US.. you will be fine. It is like every place, there are good cops and there are bad cops. San Juan is a big city, so it has all the problems of a big city. There is crime, like in every city, but very rarely is a visitor to Puerto Rico victim of a crime, it happens, but it is rare. As long as you stick with your group and don't go alone to parts of the city that you do not know, you will be fine. I am a Puertorrican, living in the United States, I have lived in big cities and currently I am living in a small city. Less crime in a small city than in a big city, simply because there are less people. Everytime that I visit Puerto Rico, I do not feel unsafe, but still, you must always be aware of your surroundings, no matter where you travel. The police force in Puerto Rico is underpaid, but they try to do the best they can with what they got. so if you travel with others that know the place, you will be safe. Cops everywhere...
