How much is it to fly from San Juan to Culebra? |
Travel Info or would it be better and cheaper to fly from Fajardo to Culebra? also where online can i get information....im planning a big trip to Puerto Rico soon!! thanx Travel Tips Cape Air does not fly to Culebra; you can, however, fly from San Juan International Airport to Culebra on Isla Nena Air Service for $92 one-way or $172 return. You can make the same trip on Air Flamenco --I've given you a link below so you can contact them for pricing (it should be fairly comparable). To save a little, you might consider flying from San Juan's Isla Grande Airport (instead of San Juan International); Air Flamenco makes this trip as well, as does Vieques Air Link (their info is below so you can call for a quote.) If you're going to go so far as to get to Fajardo in the first place -- which will take you about an hour from San Juan, and will cost you around $75-$80 in a taxi, less if you rent a car and drive yourself -- you might as well just take the ferry from there to Culebra, rather than flying. The journey is a scenic and pleasant hour and a quarter, and costs only $2! Granted, the flight will get you there in about ten minutes, but it'll cost somewhere around $40-$50. Good luck with your Puerto Rico vacation -- I'm in the throes of planning my own right now as well! I've given you some links below to some really helpful websites. Have a fantastic trip! Source(s): I'm an editor with Travelocity, currently planning my own Puerto Rico vacation. Here's the link to Isla Nena Air: http://www.islanena.8m.com/ Here's the link to Air Flamenco: http://www.airflamenco.net/ Here's the link to Vieques Air Link: http://www.vieques-island.com/val/... This site is super helpful when researching all things Culebra -- you'll find a ferry schedule on there too: http://www.enchanted-isle.com/ This site is also helpful: http://www.culebra.org/ This is a good site for general Puerto Rico information: http://welcome.topuertorico.org/index.sh... And I've had a lot of luck with Yahoo's Puerto Rico travel boards: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-19... Other Travel Tips You must check with Cape Air or Vieques Air Link. check this site www.gotopuertorico.com www.welcometopuertorico.org Vieques Air Link (787) 741-8331 Isla Nena (877) 812-5144 Culebra Air (787) 268-6951 Air Flamenco (787) 724-6464 Air St. Thomas (800) 522-3084 Ferry Schedule You can fly to Culebra from San Juan or St. Thomas with one of the above airlines, or get there from the town of Fajardo by ferry or by plane. (Fajardo is about 1 hour 30 min drive from San Juan International Airport). From Fajardo it will cost $4.50 round trip for a 1 hr ferry ride, or $36 round trip by plane on a 10 min flight. http://www.islaculebra.com/index.htm?tra... www.gotopuertorico.com Take a ferry for two bucks!!!!!!!!! But the flight is btwn 25-75.00 We flew from Old San Juan to Culebra in a six seater and it was about 75 dollars each. We got there quick. You can also take the ferry for just about a dollar or two. We flew in and took the ferry back to Fajardo and then took a taxi (about 75 dollars again) back to Old San Juan. You can haggle with the taxi drivers. They will be waiting at the ferry dock. Dont stay at Mamasitias in Culebra. But do eat there - it is the best food in Culebra...There are different owners of each place. Get your jeep from Jerry's rentals in Culebra - you will want to have a jeep to get to some of the other beaches on the island. Just google Culebra - there are lots of sites. Go to the library and check out a book on Puerto Rico. You dont need a passport and they do take US money. Keep in mind that you cannot take heavy luggage on those small planes. We stayed at El Convento in old san juan and stored our luggage there while we took a side trip to Culebra. I think you can't go over 50 pounds each. |
