Why do pr.in the states act like they dont come from the caribbean. are u guys latino/latina before u are consider caribbean ppl.

Puerto ricans in the states do not know much about the carribean b/c they grew up in america. However they know that there background is latino, so that is what they represent. They are not trying to Not aknowledge they are from the carribean, they just consider puerto rico as a country(although its a commonwealth) & they have there own culture & they are hispanic when not all carribean people are hispanic, so this is what they are proud of & aknowledge

For the record, MaryJuana is Ignorant and her answer sounds that way as well. Its funny because Latin American countries outside of Puerto Rico consider the PRs to be Americans "gringos" and not latin. Go to DR and see what they say...

In terms of PR being the next Africa...that makes absolutely no sense. Africa is a continent, not a country and each country is different. Before you decide to answer a question, please do everyone a favor and dont!
We are both at the same level, Caribbean people and Latino/Latina. PR people born in the US may not feel as Caribbean as the people born in the island.
It will depend in the people you have contact with. Still most PR prefer to be associated with Latino rather than Caribbean to feel they belong to a greater group of people.
Come from PR and live in the states.
