Go to www.CarRentals.com. It will give you a side by side (or line by line) rate comparison on all sizes from different companies serving Puerto Rico from the major national chains to the locals (Charlies, AAA, etc). Just keep in mind that an intermediate or smaller would serve you better on the tight streets of Old San Juan. But an SUV would be better if going into the mountains. Thrifty & Dollar were much cheaper than the rest. I paid about $400 for 14 days, that is about $28 per day. They were a bit outside the airport, but they have shuttles. I booked my rental car on orbitz when I booked my plane tickets. Very good rates. & it is great to drive in PR b/c you can see everything. Also call your credit card company before you go & ask if they give free insurance on your rental, most including visa do & then you do not need to purchase the insurance at the rental car place.
