6/22/07 Old San Jaun PR parade starting at Plaza de Col贸n that began at 8:00 PM, name of event?

I was in Old San Juan Puerto, Rico on 6/22/07. There was a parade that began at 8:00 PM originating at the Plaza de Col贸n and heading west on San Francisco Street.

There were young ladies dressed in large hoop gowns with sashes proclaiming that they were the beauty queen of a specific region, and a number small drum corps with baton twirlers.

I am very interested in name and the traditions surrounding this event.

The Parade is in Honor of San Juan Bautista...the old name of the capital of Puerto Rico....
