Where is the best area to stay in San Juan Puerto Rico? Traveling there for the first time.? |
Travel Info Hi, I'm going on a trip to San Juan Puerto Rico for the first time. I will be there from August 10th to August 14th. From what I can tell there are several areas to book a hotel room. - Cabo Rojo - Dorado - Mayaguez - Isabela - Ponce - Guanica - Rio Grande - Humacao - and San Juan This is going by the areas offered on certain websites. Can anyone tell me what might be the best or better areas of those to choose from and why? Also any suggestions on what to see or do while I'm there? Thank you. Travel Tips Well my friend, as you said, this is your first time in PR, I suggest stay in the San Juan area (include Isla Verde). In this area is located the most important historical sites of the Island and all the night life. The other towns you named are very far from the airport and if you don't rent a car you can't be able to move. In the Isla Verde area you can found our best hotels (El San Juan Hotel & Casino [$290.00 per nigth] and The Ritz Carlton [$304.00 per night]) there are other no so expensive but don't have beach. In the Condado area you can stay in the Condado Plaza ($250.00 per nigth) and El Caribe Hilton (around the same rate). You most check this price because in the time you come all the people was working and at school. In the San juan area you most visit the Old San Juan, at your hotel you can found tours to the El Yunque (rainforest), Las Cavernas Del Rio Camuy (caverns), Arecibo Radiotescopie and many other places. Enjoy your trip! Source(s): I live in PR Other Travel Tips I think "Ponce - Guanica" is a good one Sir or young man wherever you book or stay in the above mentioned cities, YOU ARE GOING TO ENJOY YOUR STAY AND HAVE A BLAST. In Mayaquez I recommend you visit "El Rincon". In Ponce I recommend you see EVERYTHING that is another beautiful city. ALL OF PUERTO RICO IS BREATH TAKING..Enjoy your trip.. I have family in PR & I go there alot. I can tell you San Juan is the tourist area & is a great place to stay, but if you want a nice hotel expect to pay alot. I personally love the Embassy suites in Dorado. I got a suite w/ a balcony, small kitchen, living room w/ pull out bed, of course a bdroom & bathroom all for less than $200 a night & it was luxurious. It has a private beach & pool w/ poolside bar & a lounge w/ live salsa bands playing on the wekends. In San Juan we stayed at a casino hotel & paid the same & it was not very nice. Also Dorado is only a 30 minute drive from San Juan airport. You will need to rent a car if you want to stay anywhere outside of San Juan, which I suggest anyway b/c you can explore the beautiful island. Go to thrifty.com I rented near the airport & it was one of the cheapest. If you cant do this then stay in San Juan. & although the other places you mentioned are nice too, they are too far from the airport & you shouldn't stay there your first time. San Juan (isla verde, old San Juan, & condado) or Dorado are best for you. There is so much to do. All the beaches are gorgeous & there are tons of watersports. Delicious puertorican food & seafood everywhere. Go visit 'El Yunque' Rain forest & one of the bioluminescent bays, the water glows in the dark when you touch it. It is amazing! But take a small paddle boat out b/c then you can touch it yourself. It cost $5 a person. Also Camuy caves are nice & Old San Juan is pretty. See 'El Morro' old fort in San Juan. ENJOY!! www.gotopuertorico.com http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotel... Hi If you want to be close to Old San Juan then look at hotels in the Isla Verde / Condado area. Many to pick from. Here you will be fairly close to the airport and also to Old San Juan. Must sees: Old San Juan - just walk around and check out El Morro, The Cathedral, Governors Mansion, San Juan Gate, Paseo La Princesa promenade. Plenty of restaurants and bars to check out also. Then take a trip to El Yunque rainforest (car rental is the cheapest way to go if there are a couple of you). Get there early and walk one or more of the trails (they are not too difficult). For lunch and the afternoon head to Luquillo beach. Grab food at one of the roadside kiosks and then relax at the beach Spend the rest of the time on the beach in Isla Verde. For a more relaxing (San Juan is a bit hectic) consider Rincon or Gianica or Cabo Rojo. I have yest to visit these areas, but have been told they are really nice and relaxing.
