Travel Info My family has a choice, to live in Miami or Puerto Rico, any reccomendations? Where should we pick? Travel Tips puerto rico for sure...the best part is you will be around wonderful and sweet people Others Traffic is horrible in both places. puerto rico sounds fun Well i live in Miami, and my sister lives in Puerto Rico. I can honestly say that my sister was very excited to be in Puerto Rico for the first year she was there, but the excitement has since then worn off and now she is moving to Miami this year. Maybe it's the language barrier, unsure, but she constantly visited here while living in Puerto Rico and she loves it here so much that i am thankful she she is coming permanently. Also her kids had it tough going to a school and not speaking Spanish, so she had to send them to a very expensive private school. I guess if money is no option and you are fluent in Spanish this should be no problem for you. However in Miami we have many Spanish people as well, but at least we also have English. So in Miami you can enjoy both cultures. Hope this helps. They are not that different, after all. weather is very similar, people and culture are similar as well. Although in Miami there is wider ethnic variety. Regarding the language Spanish is widely spoken in Miami, just as much as the English or even more. In PR there people do not speak English in their everyday lives as much as Spanish. Cost of living... real estate is pretty high in both of them, but a bit higher in Miami. There is sales tax in both places, food and clothes are about the same. I guess it depends in what environment you want to be in. Nightlife is more "wild" in Miami, younger crowds, trendy, "fashionistas"... horrible traffic... The only thing i find against PR is salaries. In PR professions do not pay as well as in US (mainland). Even when in Miami life is more expensive, you will make more money. In PR Pele struggle to find a decent salary. Hope I helped! Lived in PR fro 23 years. Visited Miami many times, and have plenty of friends currently living there. I even considered moving there (from Texas), but house prices made me think it twice. By all means go to Miami... Puerto Rico is third World...dirty, over populated, no jobs and poor quality services. Ad to that corrupt politicians, high crime and drug infested.... I was born and lived in PR most of my younger yrs and still have family there... Miami anytime..... Best of luck! |
