Where is the best place to stay in Puerto Vallarta?

Looking to stay north of town near Nuevo Vallarta. I hear the beaches are better there.

We stayed at the Sheraton Bouganvilias, which is just north of town, but south of the airport (and not Nuevo Vallarta). I don't necessarily recommend it, though the price was right for us (friends loaned us their timeshare).

I put alot of faith in TripAdvisor, and recommend you check out the reviews and photos there; people are blunt about their likes and dislikes, and I know I saw lots of entries for PVR when we were exploring the idea of vacationing there. Source(s): http://www.tripadvisor.com
