The area is nice, took a boat to Yelapa, about 2hrs. south. You can only get there by boat, copter. There is a village, beach shack eateries. serving what ever they catch, plenty of local beer. The city has cobbled stones, careful walking. Beautiful church, Zocolo,is what town is called. great places to eat. Shops, the Pacific is rough to swim in. The current is strong. Natives walk along beach selling food, beer, neat. Have a great time.

Puerto Vallarta is an awsome place my wife and I went for our vacations. We were able to do snorkeling, beginners diving classes, I went fishing which was by all means the most awesome, all the while my wife got herself a 4 hour message. We are actually planning to go back this year. This place is awsome give it a try, you won't forget it!
there is many things to do, you could go to "el malecon), to the beach, and on tours on a boat, and many other places too.

Whale watching, parasailing, and trying to find a place to sit at the beach or resort pool. Went there about 4 years ago and it seemed like our resort and many others were swarming with French Canadiens. Every morning at 6:00am they would go to the pool or the beach and put their belongings/towels on the chairs to claim them for the day. We watched some people put stuff at both the beach and the pool and use neither (they were very rude and the ones we met on out side trips didn't seem too friendly towards Americans). Finally after 3 or 4 days we just removed peoples things from chairs that were not being used.
