Travel Info Is it safe to be traveling to mexico? and do you need a passport? Travel Tips ok im from mexico and i can tell you what i know... it dosnt meen that im right is just what i know.. so you r not gonna be kidnapped...the people that does that they studied you 4 moths before it happends (you have to be the son of someone important ) and or it deppends your luck..sometimes is just happends like anywhere on earth.. now passaport is always good to have with you...you never know when you will need it. and go with good energy wherever you go like these you wont atract the bad one... goood luck!! have a nice time!! thers so much to see in mexico its a treasure ..love to travel in mexico i cant get enough of it!! Others Yes and Yes, you might need a visa too depending on where you are from (a visa is not a credit card). friend was just there diving and reported having a large time. It is safe but like everywhere there are the "ghettos" that you need to watch for. And if your not american you might need a visa... Also you need a passport to travel to ANY country. Been to Mexico Your question is too vague. What part of Mexico exactly? Most of Mexico is relatively safe with the exceptions of Juarez and surrounding border cities/towns (rife with narco-crime) and with the exception of Mexico city - which suffers from the second highest kidnapping crime rate in Latin America. If you're a US citizen you will not need a passport unless you plan to stay for months in which case a passport is legally required. If you're another nationality you do need a tourist visa/passport which you can get at the airport or through your travel agency. Some people traveling to the Southern states of Mexico (Chiapas, Yucatan) also get a passport to be on the safe side. Use common sense when in Mexico - go through well traveled and known areas, stay with a group of people, etc. and you'll be safe. The length of stay has nothing to do with whether you need a passport or not. You can get a 6 month tourist visa with only a drivers licence and birth certificate. The passport will be required soon by the US for travel in and out of the country. I would make every effort to get one. Safety depends are where you are and if you look like you just fell off the back of a turnip truck. |
