Anyone familiar with Puerto Vallarta beaches near the cruise port?

Travel Info
I would like to get off my cruise ship in PV and head to a beautiful beach! Whether by bus or walking. I have an excursion at 4 in the afternooon to be back for and I'm wondering where a nice beach in PV would be to spend the day before I had to head out.
Does anyone know? I have never been and have no idea what to expect or how long it takes to get around.
Thanks!!

Travel Tips
The beaches down there are OK but very rocky. A little further down is the marina and the water is calm and the beaches ar nice. If you take a taxi for $2 or $3 go to the area by Los Muertos. Nice beaches there. IT is easy to get around. The cab ride should take you at the most with traffic at it's worst 30 mins normally 15 minutes. Source(s): http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/cools...

Other Travel Tips
take a boat to Majahuitas (15 min ride), it's really nice
