Travel Info How far is puerto vallarta mexico to alcapulco mexico? Travel Tips Its about 970 kilometers or a good 600 miles. You MIGHT be able to do it in two days, I doubt it, and 16 hours, maybe yeah in a Hummer with a military escort! This is NOT a high speed "autopista" to say the least! It is winding, narrow and goes through an endless parade of small towns and villages, all just filled with "topes" (wicked speed bumps - which can also provide some very nasty surprises on the open highway...). Also it is NOT SAFE to drive this road at night! Even the Mexican Highway Patrol won't travel this when its dark! I'm not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you an idea of reality. If you take your time, travel during the daylight hours, relax at the local restaurants and hotels and enjoy yourself, it is a great drive. I have driven parts of it especially from Lazaro Cardenas south to Acapulco and we enjoyed it a lot. But just DON'T be in a hurry.......... Others It's a 2 day drive if thats the question - a very pretty one along the coast http://sparks-mexico.com/ It would be something like 16 hours non stop, on a thin road, sharp bended. If you do it with time it could be great stoping in every nice place along the way: Barra de Navidad, Manzanillo, Maruata, Playa azul, Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa and Pie de la Cuesta are nice places to spop by or for a decent night sleep. Avoid long drives because it is an exhausting road if you are not used to the kind. Have fun !!! I did it before take a plane...i've driven in that heat ugh! |
