Travel Info I am going to p.vallarta and staying at the getaway club, any advise, stories, wisdom? Travel Tips I have a condo in PV adn have been down there dozens of times. It's extremely safe and clean. You shouldn't have any real worries. The only thing you should be a bit wary of is using a credit card in dodgy little stores adn restaurants - most are fine but be sure to get the carbon paper between the signing slips. This is an issue anywhere in Mexico not just PV - hasn't been a problem for me but my dad did get a call from Visa after a trip asking him about odd purchases - someone got his number adn tried using it. The first answerer is full of sh!t. the place is fine and water is safe for brushing your teeth, ice cubes, washing salad etc. you can drink it too but it's not recommended to drink a lot of it - even teh locals drink boittled water most fo the time. A number of years ago they had a potable water system put in which makes it ok to drink even though it's not quite up to our standards in Canada & the US. There's tons of stuff to do adn see, tours, booze cruises etc., lots of awesome restaurants, nightlife is amazing too adn teh beaches aren't too bad either even though I'm not really a beach person myself. for all your PV needs/questions check this out - it covers EVERYTHING!! http://www.puertovallarta.net/ have a good trip - I'm going down again myself in a while too. Others The person asked about the Getaway Club. PV is a great place to go, but this one's a dump. Never stayed there, but looked inside and spoke to others about it. Been there(PV) 8 times, we're in our 60's. Stay at the best places or you get what you pay for!!! 'nuff said above Take or hire a personal security guard to protect you and your family. Lock your wallet and credit cards on the hotel safe, only take in cash what you need for the day. Don't have ice cubes in your drinks or water, don't eat salads, if its not cooked or you can,t peel it don't eat it. The water in Mexico is contamined and you could end up with hepitas a or b. Have a twinrex shot before you go and only drink bottled water. So many tourists have lost their lifes or been injured, watch your back and be careful. Two more tourists just shot hours ago. Good Luck most clubs are safe and have security people , if you venture from the club staying sober and showing respect for the locals will help you if you need them , remember your in their country and they hate disrespectfully foreigners , have a good time and in joy |
