Travel Info I own a condo in puerto vallarta i have a fm3 card do i need this? i will be here 6 months not at one time? Travel Tips Not sure how you got an FM3 without knowing what it is for .... but no you don't need it for shorter visits. Often times when you fly to Mexico they will only give you 30 days on a tourist VISA and it's a pain to extend it. Does your ownership require and FM3 is the only question Source(s): http://sparks-mexico.com/costalegre/... Other Travel Tips The current max stay with a tourist visa (FMT) is 180 days. You can request this when you go thru immigration upon entering Mexico. Oddly enough, I have been told that granting this is discretionary by the immigration officer, although I had no problem when I asked for 180 days initially. The advantage to the FM3 is that, as long as the FM3 is valid, you may stay in Mexico. FM3 renews annually and costs vary, but can be a little pricey ($150) and tedious, each year. I own a condo in Vallarta and have an FM3. The only reason I keep it is that it allows me to have a vehicle in Mexico. As long as the FM3 is valid, so is the importation of the vehicle. |
