Hola. Save your money and go to Lagunia Beach CA. The Marina is not Vallarta at all more like Cabo or Cancun or S-CA. You might as well not be in Mexico! Trouble with the Marina and the Hotel Zone is it so Insular, again like being in California.Hope you find some place to dance out there! I don't have a clue about that.
But if you have the chance take the Blue Bus (yes it is Blue) to the Melacone, and walk on the Ocean side, if you see a shop you are interested in, cross the street (be Careful there are no rules to driving in Mexico) Then cross back across the Calla (street) and continue on, and so on, other wise Lot's of time share and Club folks in your ear.
The taxis gents are pretty honest folks, but always ask (Cuanto Questa) how much, is aqui (here) a-yee (there) It is broken down into Zones so not much room to dicker, your Hotel will be able to help. But comming from the CHI-CHI part of Vallarta add 15%. I guess!

We just got back from PV, don't know much about dancing, ask the hotel where you stay or ask a cab driver, generally they know about everything. Restaurants: downtown pv: Pipi's and Blue Shrimp. There are several good places to eat in a town called Bucerias, Claudias, Karens, Dugarels. Pv is a neat place. Have fun!
In That area there are several big resorts that all have bar and such. You could go to the Downtown or to the Boardwalk and then seek out your favorite place. There are lots of bars and places overlooking the bay and street entertianment. Probably a lot more to do along the board walk than the marina area.
