Carnival started Feb. 28th - I believe it's over. I was there in Pv from Feb 25-Mar 11, no sign of carnival - it's elsewhere in Mexico - look it up. They do celebrate 'Cinquo de Mayo' - May 5th - independence day there, but it certainly may not be for the tourist's taste. I've been to PV 8 times in the last 10 yrs at the time you've mentioned - no sign of it - get more info.
