Is it true? if so how much? |
Travel Info is it true puerto vallarta is expensive? how much cash should i take just for food, nitelife, ect. my husband is mexican but he has been to cancun, belize, cozamel. Travel Tips Expensive is a relative term. It depends on how much you want to drink and eat, and if you want to go to discos. Do you plan to party every night? In general, it will cost you about as much as you spend in the U.S., but you also will pay for taxis. (Always ask the price of a taxi BEFORE you get in.) In typical tourist restaurants, you can expect to spend at least $50 for food and drinks. Don't order shots of "the best" tequila without asking the price. Some shots are $50! Anything on the strip (malecon) is more expensive than in other areas. Beware of time share salesmen offering things for low prices or "almost free." If you'd like to watch your money, watch for someone who is obviously a local, and ask them where THEY eat and party. I visited PV for 5 years and lived there for 3 years and didn't find many bargains. I live in Manzanillo (165 miles south of PV) now, and find things are a lot more affordable and the people friendly and much less greedy. You should visit us some time. Source(s): self Other Travel Tips Unless you are going to hang out in the old area of PV then prices are going to be comparable to the US puerto vallarta is not expensive at all. when i was there, i picked an all-inclusive hotel and the prices were very reasonable and they were worth what i paid for. some all-inclusive plans include nightlife and drinking after hours. my boyfriend is mexican as well, and i recently met him in puerto vallarta for a great vacation!!! it was not cheap, but it wasn't horribly expensive either. i would say alchohol was comprable to what you would pay at bars in the US. and food was slightly cheaper. but if you went to a "tourisy" place...most places...it was about the same as the US. we were hoping it would be cheaper, but we were not shocked, it was ok. 2.50-3 a beer, 4-5.50 for a mixed or frozen drink, 4.50 for soups, 8-12 for entres, 4-5 for desserts, 4-8 for a glass of wine. try the cuban restaurant! the zoo is a nice club, and hilo is pretty cool too. andales is in old vallarta, and it's a place for an older crowd...anywhere from 30-60 was there, it was very accepting and fun! the zoo and hilo have a variety of ages early on in the evening, and about 10pm the college crowd gets pretty big. las palomas was a great restaurant on the beach, loved it! although spendy. i thought el bistro was WAY OVER RATED, but very pretty, and very expensive. there was this one place, off the main path...across the street from a US sports bar...it was called...something like, "miguels tree house" or something, and it had wonderful service, amazing veggies, and a cool atmosphere. it was in old vallarta, downtown, far end. |
