We went for New Year's last year and it was PERFECT. The weather was incredible, and we were even able to swim in the bay. Also January is cool because that's when the humpback whales are mating and calving and you can take a tour to go whalewatching, we went with EcoTours and saw well over 20 whales in about a 3 hour trip! (If you are into that kind of thing.)

I went in March during Spring Break and it was nice, the sun was out but the water was still kinda cold. You can find out how the weather willl be. I hope we are both talking about Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that's the only PV that I can think of.

Yes it is. It's considered high season because the temperatures are warm and the humidity is low. Actually, the temperatures don't vary much throughout the year, just the percentage of humidity, which can make you miserable. Averages tend to be in the 80's during the day and high 60's at night.

I have lived in Puerto Vallarta for eight years now. I always tell my friends that from Christmas to Easter, are the best times to visit. Thus, December and January are ideal in PV.
December in Puerto Vallarta is fabulous. They have a 12 day festival in honor of the Mexican patron saint Guadalupe. There is plenty of fun things to do, eat, drink, ect. There are parades just about every day and sometimes they have fireworks. During that time of year the temperature is still really warm during the day but the evenings can be chilly so always keep a light sweater or jacket with you. Its a very nice time to go.
