Travel Info Why do people in Quebec think they're "all that"? Travel Tips Do they really think that they are all that? Sincerement, parlez-vous vraiment le fran莽ais pour que vous puissiez le leur demander? If you have never been there and have never spoken to them in their own language, I doubt that you really know how they think of themselves. I do. I am an Oregonian that has lived in Quebec City for 6 years, and I can truely say they think very little of themselves. They do love their province, but it is because it is their land. I never cease to be amazed when they ask me: So tell me again, why did you come here and why do you stay--as if to say that anyone in their right mind that could live elsewhere, would. They do have a beautiful spot in Canada (which is all very beautiful), but they think that anyone from another part of North America wouldn't probably want to stay with them. They may give you the impression of being arrogant or whatever else, but it is mostly bravado--they really lack confidence, as they are not the dominant culture in Canada. So they try to make it up by bluffing. I guess it doesn't go down very well. Perhaps if you tried saying a few nice things to them, they would let their guard down, relax and maybe you would discover, as I have, what delightful people they can be.
