Travel Info What is the Cheapest way to travel from NYC to Quebec?? Travel Tips While hitchhiking is cheapest, it's also probably the most difficult way to travel these days. If you can find a ride-share on the McGill Classfieds or elsewhere, that would probably be the cheapest way, but again: it depends on factors you can't control. I think the cheapest AND most manageable way to get from NYC to Quebec is the bus or train. I live in Montreal and I travel roundtrip to NYC every year. Personally, I prefer the overnight Greyhound bus (less noisy than train, and a shorter overall ride) but the train fare can be a bit less (Amtrak) by maybe $10 or $20 and it's a beautiful view this time of year. It runs along the Hudson. I would say those are the 2 really viable options if you're not fortunate enough to find a safe ride-share. Last time I checked, the bus fare RT was about CAD$150-170.
