If you plan on using cash while you're in Canada change it at your bank before leaving otherwise you'll get a crappy exchange rate at restaurants and hotels. Your Visa card is the best bet as you get the best exchange rate and don't get charged a service fee.
Sorry as a Canadian that questions makes me giggle. You can take your US dollars and spend them just like you normally do most business' over here give you prime rate when you shop with them. You can covert US dollars at any bank or lending institution over here that you choose. Credit cards are good we like those a lot .........if I were you I would be more concerned about the language issues. Right now the exchange rate is 1.1290 per US dollar.Unlike most places in the US we take US dollars anywhere without reserve. If you really arent sure then take Canadian Travellor cheques
Hi, I am in Montreal, however I lived alongtime in the US, so be really carefully definitely change your money before you cross and at your bank not the exchange places as they are a rip off the gal working there was so sweet and honest she told me huge difference in rate,also take your visa, it will come in handy and they go by the bank rate, hope you have a great time, in case you didn't know it its getting super cold here and supposed to snow, been raining and cold alot, I can not take the cold so its hard for me, but its a great city you should really enjoy it!
