What is the best place to go sking in the South Island of New Zealand for intermediate skiers?

Travel Info
We are staying at Queenstown and could go to any of the 4 major resorts near there. Also, does anyone have any experience with glacier skiing in New Zealand. How advanced a skier does one need to be?

Travel Tips
If you want value for money, forget the big commercial skifields and look at some of the smaller club fields. You will need to get away from Queenstown, but many of the fields have excellent acomodation right on the ski field.
the cost for some of these fields means you can buy a season pass for what a one day ski pass can cost, and you get a wide variety in terrain, and meet a lot of friendly Kiwis rather than lots of internationals, who all appear the same after a while.
I ski regularily at Porter heights which has all the facilities of the large ski fields , but is fully commercial.

Others
If you're a pretty confident skiier head to Treble Cone, just out of Wanaka. It's mean't to be pretty awesome and have some really good runs.
Mt Hutt? Accom is cheaper in and around Chistchurch but all of the south Island ski fields are great.... Go to them all
Mt Shutt is miles away. About 5 hours drive.

Concrete Peak and the Regettables are nearby, and have a reasonable range of slopes. Cardrona is nice. Terrible Cone is maybe a bit harder. The roads up are awful.

Glacier skiing is mainly out of Mt Cook, a fair way away. There are a couple of heli skiing organisations operating out of Wanaka and Queenstown which are a trifle expensive, but excellent fun.
dont know but i am staying in wanaka for a week and it is within an hours drive to 3 or 4 skii fields around there
the remarkables, ski there every year and its great!!!
