Upon approval in the U.S. by the Immigration Service of an I-129F Petition for Alien Fianc茅 and issuance by the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janerio, this visa allows your Brazilian fianc茅 to enter and visit the U.S. one-time for up to ninety (90) days. During this time, the couple, if they choose to marry, must do so. Otherwise, the lady fianc茅 must return to Brazil. Travel Tips It means if your girlfriend comes here on a fiance visa, you have to marry her within 3 months or else she will have to go home. I went that route and liked it. We had a civil ceremony here, then went back to Brazil and had a church wedding. After our honeymoon, she was able to come back with me. Friends who went the route of petitioning their wives had to wait for months for their wives to join them in the US. But don't think the process is as easy as is implied here, it took months to get the fiance visa, and months for her to get permission to leave the US while she waited for an adjustment of status (from fiance to wife) to be completed.
