Travel Info I am looking to visit Chernobyl. Any ideas on how to get there.? Travel Tips Don't go there , trust me . I'm from Grodno Belarus. There are still many people dying from Chernobyl consequences . Its not really a place to visit -its place to know and remember . However You can do this if You don't care about Yourself and Your family .There are some companies in Kiev Ukraine that will arrange such a visits. I don't think foreigners can get there by themselves, without an organized tour. If you're seriously interested, I know that Bio-Eco Systems Consortium in Kiev organizes such tours (probably it's too late to go on a one that starts in late May). It's quite expensive - about $ 1,500 for 5 days plus airfare. They claim that it's about as safe (in terms of radiation exposure) that spending a week in Colorado Rockies. Chernobyl is one of those places where you don't really want to go to, unless you want another arm. Chornobyl is not in Russia (good for Russia). It is in Ukraine, not far from our capital.
