I grew up in Moscow, Russia, but 7 years ago moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and the first think I notice ~ people are different. Americans are nicer than Russians. Customer service in the USA is way better than in Russia, probably because in Russia no one wants your business, just your money. The weather he in Alaska is probably the same like in Moscow, Russia. Food is better too. You can buy whatever you want in the stores and it is always fresh and clean. You can actually walk in and talk to the Senator of the State. If you have some problems he/she will be obligated to help you. I had a problem ~ I was helped. Social life is less dangerous here than in Moscow, but unfortunately Alaska is way far away from, for example, Los Angeles or New York, so I would say it is more boring. As far as I know Americans only seem nice. They often smile but they don't mean it. Russians may be don't look nice but they are more sincere. That is an opinion of Americans themselves visiting Russia. People in Russia can be rude sometimes. But only sometimes. And only ones in low spirits. :) Food is also not that bad. It is possible to have very good and not very expensive meal in cafes and restaurants in Russia. Social life in cities and towns is also various. Theaters, cinemas, clubs and museums are for your service. Weather can be rather different depending on the region and the season. Even people in Moscow don't believe when they hear that temperature in southern parts of Siberia in summer is often 30, 32 degrees above zero. Which is true. Can't say anything about government. Politics is an unpleasant topic for me. I tried to be objective. Hope I succeeded. There are always good and bad sides about everything. I live in Krasnoyarsk. |
