I have never heard of that. I believe you would just need a passport or possibly a visa.
Ive never heard of that...i would think all you need is a passport and some sort of destination, is it you coming to the us..? they might want to know the reason you want to visit..i don't think they would need to know the amount of money you have,...
All countries reserve the right to insure that tourists have proof of sufficient funds to support their stay so that they will not be a liability to the country. The United States does not have a specific listed amount that is required by the tourist. It depends on your length of stay and where you are staying and is completely at the discresion of the immigration officer. It is not common but you might be asked to show a recent bank statement and an onward flight ticket. This is actually standard travel requirements for most all countries including Russia.
lol...simple to ask somebody money.....GO TO AUSTRALIA!!!!WITHOUT MONEY AND YOU WILL RECIEVE A LOT OF MONEY AND FRIENDS!!!!
No, formally it is not true. Especially regarding cash - that's a lie. What is true, is that an evidence of financial means to support this visit is necessary (affidavit from a host family, bank account with a credit card)

Bloodweaver1997 gave you a good answer. Here is, what the U.S. consulates in Russia are asking for:

"Documents that provide evidence of the applicant鈥檚 social, economic, and/or family ties to Russia, as well as correspondence from relatives or business associates you plan to visit, may facilitate the consular officer鈥檚 decision.

Some examples of documents that may be helpful include:

* Evidence of employment. A letter from your employer can be useful.
* Evidence of income (and in some cases evidence of your spouse's income), such as earnings statements."

Complete info you can find on the consulate link:

(A Russian language version exists as well).
