I desperately want to go and live in Russia in a couple of years - what麓s the best way of supporting myself? |
Travel Info I know teaching English is one way of working, but are there any other possibilities? I work as a mortgage advisor, so can麓t really utilise that. I have been learning Russian for about six months now, and though I can read and print the Cyrilic Alphabet, my conversational Russian is poor and I really want to go and live in Russia, both to learn the langauge to a decent standard, and to experience the Russian culture before it becomes too westernised and multicultural. Travel Tips AS A LANGUAGE TEACHER? Source(s): 2 Other Travel Tips On yer legs? and where exactly are you gonna live? in different cities the situation looks different ways) Well you can try working at the U.S. Embassy(or British, Canadian, whichever you are). Some of the jobs require just a basic knowledge of Russian. And I hear they take good care of their employees. I think the only way you could realistically follow your dream is to do as you said, teach English. You could always do it to begin with and then when you have learnt enough Russian, apply for different jobs. I know most schools and teaching positions prefer people with a TEFL qualification. I would recommend going to Russia on holiday first, just for a week or so, to see if you really do like it enough to live there. I have had the same dream for a long time. But I decided to do a degree in Russian first. I have been to Moscow twice for holidays and I'll be there for the whole summer as well. It definitely becomes addictive when you finally get there. All I can say is I hope it works out for you and good luck. save money |
