Does The 30KM "Chernobyl Exclusion Zone" still exist? |
Travel Info It was/is to stop people becoming contaminated radioactively. Travel Tips It does exist and probably will stay till hell freezes over. And it is quite heavily quarded - one will get into serious trouble if caught there with no permission or like. On the other hand, there are constant rumours that certain travel agencies in Kiev, Ukraine may guide you to the very nuclear station - for a hefty price, of course... Some people from this formerly densely populated area (old folks first of all) have chosen to return to their homes. They are doing qiute all right - at least no double-headed folks around, but an obvious lack of daily needed things makes life in the Zone very hard. No regular food supplies, little to none medical help, you know... The worst thing, however, is in the attempts of current Belarusian government to declare some parts of the contaminated lands "clean" and to return people and restart agriculture there. Source(s): native Belarusian myself Other Travel Tips It doe's but there is no one enforcing it just some rusty old signs telling people to stay out Yes, it does. The area around Chernobyl will be highly radioactive for thousands. the exclusion zone is there but it isn鈥檛 graded so people do come and go as they please subjecting their bodies to radioactive contamination. It does still exist and is policed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. it would be just for 300 years more.....but..but...people there live in those regions....also old and they are ok,like those wild animals there....one Siberian vilage have polution of radioactive and people were lived there for this year stile for tens years,so government stay remember problem places and solve it.... |
