Can i send a telephone to omsk city in russia? |
Travel Info Can i send a telephone to omsk city in russia? Travel Tips You can definitely send a phone to Omsk. I assume you are talking about a cell phone. The phones that will work in Russia need to have at least two of these 900, 1800, and 1900 Mhz bands. A cell phone that belongs to Verizon or Nextell is not going to work in Russia and a bunch of cell phones that are working on GSM with T-Mobile or Cingular are also not going to work because they are working on a 850 MHz band. To be sure buy/send phones that are Tri or Quad band. You can send it by USPS/FedEx or UPS but make sure to declare it as a gift so that they will not have to pay extra at the customs. Oh, a land line is not going to work if you send it from US or even EU. The pulse tone is different in Russia from the one in US and the phone is not going to dial the numbers because it will not understand the pulse tone and rate. You can always buy a wall jack that can be replaced for the foreign one, but you can鈥檛 do anything about the pulse tone. If you want to buy them a land phone you are better of sending them the money and for them to buy the phone locally. Others i dont see why not - but would it work ???? As long as isn't ticking in the box, the post office will deliver it. if you mean SMS it`s easy ,just use site of mobile operator http://www.nemtyrev.narod.ru Do you mean fixed-line phone or cellular one? Actually, I would not recommend doing neither. The wall plugs have different voltage, hence American phone plug will not fit. As for cell phone - you would need to purchase one that works there, on GSM network, and it's a lost case here, since companies consider Eastern Europe and U.S. two very different markets and do not sell the same phones there and here. A person is better off buying there-probably will cost the same. Now, in terms of how to send, you can use regular USPS service, or DHL, or you can find one of those International parcel services, private shops that cater to customers from former USSR and Eastern Europe (lots of those in NYC).
