Travel Info Does anyone know what a russian rouble would buy in russia? whats it compared to the aus dollar? Travel Tips Things in russia are very cheap in the rural areas Others 1 Australian Dollar will buy you 21.83 Ruble You wont get much for a ruble, maybe a chocolate bar - some russian posters may help more with that or I can in a fortnight when i'm there www.xe.com Approx. as much as you can buy for 3 aus cents. It's global now - the prices are same everywhere. I dont think 1 ruble will buy you anything. It is not even enough to get you into one of the public porta-johns that you have to pay to use. It is about 150 rubles for a meal from McDonald's in Moscow. McDonalds is also one of the cheapest places to eat in Moscow, unless you buy food from a street vendor. 1 Aus dollar = 22 rubles. Like stated above you have to go outside of the cities to get anything cheap. There is a denomination smaller than the ruble called a kopek, but I find these are rarely used, and never carry any with me. Last year I got directions to the nearest WC from a bum for 1 ruble. Not kidding |
