Russian tatoo meanings?

I just want to know if russian tatoos have any meaning? My daughters father has some tatoos from Russian prison my friend Kelly says they tell you what the person did in prison?Daughters father has a rose on his lower arm,Crucifix on his chest,tiger on his leg,Star on knee,small spider down his chest, a wolf face on his chest,what looks like part of a cathedral on his hand with letters,and a russian saying with angels on either side on his back.All his tatoos are blurry most are also not that big .Anyone know?
