What documents do i need if i visit Tallinn Estonia ?

Travel Info
I have a valid U.S. passport & was wondering if i need to have a visa first or anything else i dont think its a part of Russia anymore.

Travel Tips
You only need your U.S.Passport to visit Estonia.

I live in the US and I have to disagree with one of the previous answers. Though food is cheap in Estonia, I would not make plans to go shopping for clothes over there since they are actually more expensive than in the US.

Also, Estonia has never been part of Russia. Estonia, along with other countries was occupied by Russia which formed the USSR. Thereafter, Estonia was (not by choice) one of the states of the USSR. Estonia reclaimed its independence in 1991 and has been doing great ever since.

Have a great trip.

Estonia is an independent country for a long time now.

I think you only need your passport, nothing else.

Have a nice trip!
All you need is your passport. And lots of money--the bargains there are incredible in the "malls" near the boat.

My friends from Helsinki make day trips there to buy groceries and clothes!
You only need a valid US Passport to enter Estonia. They will stamp your passport as you have probably experienced in many other European countries. I have been to Estonia and I was very impressed with Tallinn.

Estonia actually has not been part of Russia for many years. They received their independence after WWI and during WWII they were overrun by the Soviet Union. However, this occupation was never recognized by most countries - including the US.

Due to the long occupation and the horrors that befell the country during Soviet occupation, Estonians are not friendly at all to Russians or anything that deals with Russia - so if you know some Russian phrases make sure to not use them. Assuming that you do not speak Estonian, the best languages to use there are English and German as both are widely understood.

I'm not sure how long your stay is, but you may find it interesting to visit other places in the Baltics. The most interesting places are

Estonia - Tallinn and Tartu
Latvia - Riga and Sigulda, also Rundalspils palace
Lithuania - Vilnius, Saulai, Kaunas
