Travel Info what exactly did he do and not do for the Russian people? How were the peasents treated under his leadership? How would you have felt living in the soviet union under stalin? did communism work or not,and why do you feel that way? Thank You sooo.... much Travel Tips He did a lot of bad things ( torturing people, sending them to Siberia, etc.) but he did help modernize the Soviet Union's economy and under his leadership the USSR defeated Nazi Germany. Life for peasants was pretty hard since they didn't have many freedoms that we are used to today (such as freedom of speech). The collectivization process made many people starve since their land and livestock became public property. Stalin did support education and during that time many illiterate peasants from small villages learned to read and write. Others He was a horrible, horrible dictator. He killed poor, innocent people, and spread terror all over the great country of Russia. The only good thing he did was to stop another horrible dictator, Mr. Hitler. I would have hated living under him in terror, all the time. I do not think it worked because the people were so unhappy, and the government was so corrupt, and shady. In this time no one could be trusted. Hope This Helps =) My Babushka Well, some people even believe he had a sort of concord with Hitler. Under his ruling even 17-year-old girls were tortured in prisons. People were being chased and killed even for books. Yeees, he was "bad", but he was also strong and he made our country a superpower and the most feared for quite a long time. |
