How do the polish pronounce the word 'Warsaw' and how do the russian pronounce it?

Travel Info
I think the Polish say 'Varshava' and the Russain say 'Vershavy' but I'm not sure

Travel Tips
They both say it the same way in the nominative case, 'Var-SHA-va' (accent on the 2nd syllable). If you have heard it said differently it is likely because in both of these languages nouns 'decline'- that is, the endings change depending on which case it is in. So, in Russian, if a person says, "I live in Warsaw", it would, indeed, sound like 'VarSHAvy' ('Ya zhyvu v Varshavy'). Source(s): currently living in Warsaw; reside in Ukraine (where they also speak Russian- it is a 2nd lang of mine) most of the year.
