From experience, I know that taxi service is very expensive, and if you are a tourist, you will likely be ripped off. I suggest "hitchhiking". Unlike in the U.S., it is totally normal and acceptable there. Just stick out your hand, and someone will pick you up. You guys will agree on a price, and you'll get a ride. This is what most people do.

I agree with Boris, hitch hiking is a better way to get around. But you must know the language if you are going to hitch a ride. There is a great deal of public transportation available too. You won't have problems getting around.
