I'm moving 3000 miles, anyone have any good advice/tips from their own experience they'd care to share?

Plan in advance... If you can give yourself plenty of time to minimize junk stuff. Otherwise pack as if you had to abandon anything that couldn't fit into a carry-on and 2 suitcases. aka important stuff with ya and the rest cram in a box or say adios!
