What we do is give them extra jobs, so do the grandparents, neighbors, etc...until they raise half the money, then we provide the rest. Don't feel guilty, just show that you are willing to work for something you really want. It's the American way! Others work, sell things on ebay Well you could get a job and raise money. It wouldnt be a waste of money to go to CA. California is awesome.
