Travel Info Any tips about living in Sacramento & Rocklin in California? Travel Tips you like it HOT? Others Are you going to live in Sac or Rocklin? They are different. Rocklin tends to be higher priced if you are in the newer part. Sacramento is very large. What kind of info are you looking for? know the difference between Buisness 80 and Capital 80. Buy a Thomas Guide of the Area. Carpool Lane is your friend. Thunder Valley has a great buffett once you get past the 10 inch layer of cigarette smoke. Probably have more but you will learn cant tell you everything :p. REALTOR AND HOME LOAN CONSULTANT SACRAMENTO, CA A big suggestion I have for either place is to get yourself a good map and learn how to get around WITHOUT getting on the freeway. Sad but true, I-80 (and 50 too, for that matter) was just not built for the amount of growth that this part of the state has seen in the past few years, and at key times during the day, the traffic is TERRIBLE. It is starting to become like LA in places. A good I-80 alternative is the old Highway 40, which is now called Taylor rd (in Rocklin) and Auburn blvd (in Sac). Learn to use the diamond/carpool lane if you're on the freeway! The diamond lane is your best friend! Those are a new thing to the Sac area and I see so many people not take advantage of it, simply because they're not used to it or don't understand how it works (silly!). Another tip I would have, is that both places are below the fog line and you will experience some pretty intense pea-soup in the winter, so be forewarned. Make sure you don't drive with your high-beams on when it's foggy. Many Sacramento "imports" don't know this, and it is quite annoying to share the road with them. I'm a Nor-Cal native I grew up in Sacramento and love it here! It a great place to live if you have a family...it not too big, not to small...you can have the quiet life or a busy one of you want it. i do agree with the first post, however...you should look up a few routes to get around town without getting on the freeway...especially on three day weekends, the major highways get packed...but that's just the price we pay for being directly between Tahoe and San Francisco. |
