Sacramento hip neighborhoods, near 20th and k st? |
Travel Info We have a four year old son but don't want to live in the burbs because it is annoying to have to drive everywhere. Plus coffeeshops do exist that do not have starbucks on the front of the building. Travel Tips 20th and K is pretty. However, It is very close to the busy train tracks. A couple of streets east or west and the train noise/vibration dampens. With a young child, you probably do not want to reside on a street lower than 16th in the C through H streets. Mid Town rules! The parks, the tree lined streets, the vibe, the culture. It is by far the hippest part of Sacramento. It is easier to live in midtown if your residence has on-site parking or if you do not own a car. The negative aspects to living in Midtown are: If you do own a car/s, you need to register with the parking authorities downtown and be issued a permit. The permit and the cars VIN # has to be visible to a meter reader. Parking is HELL. There is garbage service and street cleaning weekly and each side of the street has a different day. It doesn't sound that bad but what can happen is... you get home late, the only spot is across the street and it's being cleaned in the morning. You have to get up extra early and play park the damn car! This is where you get to drive around the block 10 times in your pajamas while waiting for your earliest neighbor to leave for work so you can park, or until they are done cleaning the street. But ...you can get a ticket if you park on the clean side that early because of the posted, no parking for street cleaning, 8am to 12pm. Others My friend used to live over there. He lived across from the Weatherstone coffee house. Nice neighborhood, and worth checking out. if hip is what you call living downtown where all the homeless people live and always hitting you up for money 3 times a day, then yeah, its hip. Dont know why you dont like the burbs. Its annoying having to walk everywhere downtown. |
