When I drove from the Sac area to Las Vegas it took me about 10 hours. Others its about 500 miles ..depending on how you drive about 8 or 9 hours. do it in 8 Depending upon whether or not you run into snow going over Donner Pass It's about 9.5 hrs to Reno via US 95 which is a very empty two lane road- and another 2 hours+ from Reno into Sacramento via I-80 Before you do this route make sure the passes over the Sierra are open both Donner and the one on US 50 by South Lake Tahoe. IF they are closed then I-15 S to Barstow Slide over the top of Edwards AFB and into Bakersfield and then pick up the 99 into Sacramento.Personally I really like going via Reno I've been everwhere man , I've been everywhere. It's a tricky drive, you're going to hit rush hour some where, so it can run from 9 to 12 hours depending on traffic, accidents, road work, etc. I used to do it in about 9, on average. Just be sure to gas up and use the bathroom regularly otherwise you can get in quite a predicament!! We were stuck behind a big wreck and I wished I'd used the bathroom when we got gas. The drive is very interesting if you've never done it before, but the traffic in the Sacramento area is a nightmare so get ready for that especially if you are arriving between 3-6pm. Lived there for 10 years and drove to Vegas and LA frequently from the Sac area. |
