Beaches near chico, CA ??? |
Travel Info hi, i was wondering what beaches are closest to chico california, and if you can get to them by bus or some other form of transportation? i'm going to chico for spring break and won't have access to a car, so i'm wondering what beaches i could get to. thanks! Travel Tips Have you looked at a map? Chico is inland - not close to beaches. You will be hours from any beach. There are some lakes that are not far but I would say the closest nice beach would be Fort Bragg. Others You would have a substantial bus ride - but you could go to Arcata or Mendocino ... those are very cold, rough beaches. You could go to the shore at Lake Tahoe ... still several hours away. You would probably have to drive 7 or 8 hours to get to a nice, warm beach with temperate water and nice sand. Someplace like Santa Barbara. However - if it's a nice day, and IF you can get a bus down to the Bay Area, the beach at Alameda shore will do in a pinch. The Bay water is VERY cold ... but it's a nice beach, and it's as close to Chico as any beach you will find. fort bragg is a beautiful and popular point of interest.a few winding roads getting there but probably the closest ( 3 1/2 - 4 hrs ) and well worth it. sadly there are not any beaches close by though. augh in san fran pacific point is a popular place as well.but head on down the road and half moon bay is nice. watch the weather though. not always sunny. water is cold so dont count on swimming during that time... not sure about transportation though. buses should get ya there. enjoy your spring break! i have lived in chico for 12 years. we go to ft bragg during the summer and have been to half moon bay several times as well |
