I am considering relocating to Placerville CA, Anyone know anything about this area? |
Travel Info I am considering relocating to Placerville CA, Anyone know anything about this area? Travel Tips Its a pretty small community. The city is around 10,000 people. The great thing about Placerville is that it is about 30 minutes to Sacramento and a little over an hour to Tahoe. There is not too much growth in Placerville the political climate is anti growth. I was raised in Placerville and now I live down the hill in Rocklin because of my job, but I would move back in a heartbeat. Others Small, sleepy town....blink and you'll miss it....The main road is what everyone uses to get to Tahoe so that can get congested at times too. Its a beautiful area up there and not hard to see why they want to keep it small. The actual town it self is "uhhh ok" with me WAY to crowded on the weekends but anywhere around it is really nice! We all go to those areas highway 49, gold town areas, applehill and ride our motorcycles around its got all the elements we look for its beautiful, curvy/windy, awesome views, always nice weather (summer). It has allot to offer for those of us who live down the mountain in Sacramento! (they hate us but love are money, lol) Its always one of my favorite spots to go visit especially if we don't have time to take a real trip somewhere! hope this helped a little, good luck! Oh and remember if your used to the "city life" SAC. is just a hope skip and jump away to get you party or what-ever on!!! lol it has everything! and Tahoe and the casinos are like an hour away also! Placerville is located in the heart of El Dorado Wine Country. There are many wineries located around this small town and the neighboring town of FairPlay. For more info on wine tasting in El Dorado County go to: http://www.cheers2wine.com/el-dorado-cou... What everyone else said is correct, I would like to add that you cannot set off fireworks in Placerville, period. Of course heading up the hill to Tahoe to see the show is a great idea, but if you are really into setting off your own, you won't be able to in Placerville or the surrounding towns, I believe you have to come down to Sacramento County to do that. Placerville is an old pioneer town that is know as "hang town". Placerville is very close to where the gold rush began in California and it is located in the foothills of California off highway 50. Old town Placeville is quaint and has tried to keep its pioneer roots. Not far from Placerville (about fifteen miles) toward Sacramento is El Dorado Hills. This area is booming with construction and new growth. Placerville is about 45 minutes from downtown Sacramento on a day with no traffic. Unfortunately, the rush hour traffic has made it difficult to live in this area and work in Sacramento or the outlying areas. Placerville gets some snow in the winter, but very little and it rarely sticks. You are just a short hop from the snowline. Apple Hill is ten minutes outside of Placerville and is a wonderful place to visit in the fall with all of the apple orchards opening up to visits. You can visit each farm and enjoy apple pie and wonderful apple bakes goods. Placerville has remained fairly small, but urban sprawl is making its way up the hill. The great thing about Placerville is the small town feel, but still a short drive to a metropolitan area. The schools in Placerville are generally good and the cost of living is moderate compared to Southern CA and the bay area. Yea..its in the foothills...need I say more..its beautiful |
