Travel Info Relocating to Sacramento, CA from St. Louis, MO for school. What's it to do there? What's it like there? Travel Tips sacramento isn't that great. i don't know if it's better than St. Louis, MO though... never been there =) Others It's pretty boring here in Sacramento. But being only an hour away from san francisco has it's perks! Expect to be there a lot if you want anything fun to do. Depends what you like to do. There's a lot. Clubs, concerts, museums, Old Sacramento, river rafting, nudist resort, baseball, NBA, car culture, outdoor sports galore. You're close to skiiing, camping, hiking, the Pacific, beaches, wineries all over the place. You gotta be a very dull person, not to find something to do in Sacramento. Sacramento is a fun city and has a fantastic music and art culture. Grab a Sacramento News and Review to get info on clubs and events. Here are my current likes. The Park Ultra Lounge, 15th and L St. Harlows, 2708 J St. Empire Entertainment Center,1417 R St@15th. Check out Dimple Records and The Beat. When not in classes or working, you will spend most of your time seeking out air conditioned buildings. The nuclear sunsets in late summer. You'll see. lol Depends on what you like to do...pretty general question. Fishing on the Sacramento River, American River, and Folsom Lake, catfish hitting bigtime right now...Hot in the summer especially August (105+), winter can get down in upper 20's...San Francisco is 90 miles to the west, and Tahoe is 90 miles to the east...lots of tweekers in North Sac, North Highlands, and D.P.H., Oak Park and South Sac too, lots of weird scenes in those areas...LOTS of sheriff and cops there...so if you party, be smart about it....good luck. Born, raised, and probably will die in Sacramento Sac is slowly turning into a metropolis, but still slightly cow-townish. THere is a lot to do depending on what you like. Lots of history in Sac (museums, art galleries and such), Old Sac is cool to see but it's a tourist trap, boating or floating on the river, lots of good eats, and not too far from the really good stuff - San Francisco, Napa, Tahoe, Reno. All less than 2 hours away. Right next door is Folsom Lake and lots of great camping sites in the Sierra Foothills. Raging Waters just opened up at Cal Expo (where the State Fair is held). Weather: Cold Winters and hot Summers. YOu do see all of the seasons here. But today is a beautiful day in the high 80's with blue skies. Oh yeah, about the hot Summers - get a place and a car with air conditioning. You'll need it! The peak heat usually hits around 5pm. So, it's not pleasant leaving your air conditioned office buiding to walk straight into an oven! AND If you're looking to get away from crime, this is not the place. Crime has risen in Sac and it doesn't appear to be getting any better. |
