Travel Info Do locals really call Sacramento "The Big Tomato?"? Travel Tips I've only heard it called "sack 'o tomato" Others I call it Sacra-tomato I have never heard anyone actually use it in conversation, but it is often used in newspaper articles. Sacto, Sac-Town, Suckramento, Sack'o Tomatoes, Sacra-tomato, that trafficy place between SF and Reno/Tahoe, yes, but other than chamber of commerce and tourism types in promotional literature, no one calls it The Big Tomato. Maybe 20 years ago they did, but not anymore. What? No. We call it Sac No. As with many cities surrounded by suburbs, most locals just call it "the city", or at most "the capitol". No..it's called the capitol now |
